About the Instructor, Palehua

Palehua is a drag performer, producer, and creative educator born and raised in Hawai‘i. With over eight years of experience, she has graced stages from local venues to major events, including Honolulu Pride 2024, the Hawaiian Invasion at Fire Island in 2022, and the Official Pride After Party Drag Show in Hilo.

Her drag journey began alongside her drag sibling Natalia Rose, and over the years, she has created and hosted a wide range of events, from themed brunches and birthday bashes to fully produced theatrical shows. Notably, she hosted the Queer and Questioning Variety Show at UH Hilo Performing Arts Center and six volumes of “Cardio Queens” drag show at the Island of Hawai‘i YMCA.

Palehua’s drag name is inspired by her favorite Hawaiian song, serving as a daily reminder of her roots and the kuleana she carries as both an entertainer and a cultural creator. She believes that drag is a powerful reminder not to take life too seriously—a chance to laugh, connect, and celebrate the full spectrum of human expression.

As the head instructor of From Concept to Queen, Palehua is dedicated to helping new and emerging drag artists turn ideas into fully realized performances. She focuses on practical tools—like lip sync technique, character development, costuming, and stage presence—combined with supportive coaching and honest feedback. Her goal is to create a fun, welcoming space where artists can take risks, grow their confidence, and celebrate exactly who they are.

Looking ahead, Palehua is excited to continue opening doors for drag opportunities to exist on the island, fostering a vibrant and inclusive drag scene in Hawai‘i.
